Aristarkh Chernyshev's exhibition "MetaConsumer" in GUM-Red-Line Gallery

The exposition covers more than five years of the artist's activity, summarizing an important period in his work and at the same time in the life of modern society. Multimodality, manufacturability, paradoxical thinking allow Chernyshev to be adequate to our time, and sometimes even ahead of it. Enthusiastically creating a new aesthetic, the artist acts in the Sci-fi (science fiction) paradigm, embodying in his projects ideas that progressive humanity has yet to develop.

The subject of the artist's work is information in the broadest sense of the word. Aristarkh Chernyshev accumulates data about society in his mind - with its progress and stagnation, passions and inevitable worries about the future, creates versions of smart gadgets and social services that lure consumers into a brighter future. The meaning-forming work of the exposition, the MetaConsumer project, embodies the metaposition of the artist. Rampant hyper-consumerism on the part of consumers and the pursuit of super-profits on the part of corporations have put humanity on the brink of disaster, the artist is convinced. However, his criticism of reality appears in the form of a game and allows one to comprehend the risks for the existence of civilization, while maintaining the confidence and control of the user in a situation of crises.

The active participation of the viewer is an important part of the MetaConsumer exhibition project. Everyone can feel like an accomplice in a media art performance, try on various services created with elements of augmented reality, feel like the main character and comprehend the works presented in the GUM-Red-Line Gallery. Curator – Marina Fedorovskaya The exhibition is open until February 10, 2023. Free admission.
