Zhostovo hand-painted samovars
It is believed that it was Peter I who brought  samovar from Holland to Russia. Actually this article of daily use appeared half a century after the death of the tsar. The first samovars in Russia were in the Urals. The new thing caught on quickly. Family get-togethers around a puffy pot-bellied samovar became a tradition: merchants and peasants sipped teat from the saucers with cracker rings and sugar, the sedate noblemen drank tea from porcelain cups.
“Zhostovo” craftsmen honor this wonderful tradition and paint only Tula samovars. A tea set consists of a Tula brass samovar for 3 liters, four glass holders with crystal glasses from the famous Gus-Khrustalny, a wrought-iron tray and a beautiful gift box.
The painting is made in the single style: it is traditional hand-painted oil paints - that's why there is artist's signature on every Zhostovo item.
It will be double as nice to have tea from such cups, and the talks will be even more sincere, that's for sure!
You are welcome to Zhostovo in GUM!
