He cooperates with the European fashion houses and is exhibited in the best London galleries. One of the most famous artists of China, Jackie Tsai, decorated GUM. His art installations and sculptures can be seen at the lines & passages.
“I combined GUM ice-cream & the cathedral. Russian matreshka smiles at the Chinese doll. And Tetris. We always played Tetris. Tetris is one of the symbols of Russia for me. Russian is in the first place of all cultures, which is why I agreed to this project. I think that this is very important for our friendship," the artist says.
On February 8thpaintings in pop art style by Jackie Tsai were auctioned within a gala dinner in GUM Demonstration Hall. Andrei Malakhov acted as the host of the evening and the famous auctioneer and chairman of the board of directors of Sotheby's Russia Lord Mark Poltimore presented the pictures. The guests were welcomed by the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China in Russia Li Hui and Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Olga Golodets.
A dinner of 8 exquisite courses (corn soup with crispy Chinese pit, Hong Kong-style barbecue pork Iberico, aspic foie gras with black caviar, jellyfish with sauce from the chef – are just several quotations) were cooked by the 3 Michelin stars chef from Hong Kong Albert Ou. This event could not be missed by illustrious guests from China, collectors, famous businessmen and Russian celebs including editorial director of Conde Nast Traveler China Alex Sun, Vasily Tsereteli, Irina Stepanova, Andrei and Evgenia Dellos, Igor Zhuravlev, Alexei Ananiev and others.
In addition to GUM, Tsai's works are presented at a solo exhibition at the Moscow Museum of Modern Art in Gogol Boulevard from February 12th to March 11th.
