The Louvre, which used to be visited by kings and aristocrats wearing richly embroidered frocks and crinolines, is now about the crowds of tourists flooding Paris – this is the concept of the new Louis Vuitton collection by the creative director Nicolas Ghesquière.
Hence, there are elongated pompous coats, similar to the old camisoles with gold embroidery and a la Louis XVI decor, which are offered to be worn with the tourists’ fave sneakers and even with a T-shirt decorated with a poster from the "Stranger Things" series. Is it anachronism? No! It is just a successful fusion of the past & present. Everyone is just crazy about all sorts of fashionable mixes now.
