The opening of the Qatar @RoadTo2022 Exhibition of football attributes took place in GUM on July 6th. The organizer of the exhibition is the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy of the World Cup 2022 in Qatar.
A part of one of the largest collections of tickets for World Cup matches is on the display. It is owned by the Qatar telecommunications engineer and football fan Mohammed Abdelatif. He began collecting tickets in 2014, during the previous World Cup in Brazil. For four years, he managed to collect about 900 tickets fr om 95% of the matches of 20 World Cups, which took place since 1930. The exhibition in GUM gives the opportunity to see about 100 tickets from the Abdelatif’s collection. The collection of tickets is added with football souvenirs, balls and boots. In addition, the exhibits from the collection of another football enthusiast - Brazilian Paulo Vilen Gini, as well as models of stadiums of the World Cup-2022 are on the display.
In addition to rare tickets, the display features:
• football boots and balls of the first world football championships;
• unique shots of the Second World War time. Although the world championships were not held, people played football even in camps for prisoners or prior to decisive battles;
• Pele boots from the World Cup 1970 in Mexico;
• Pele T-shirt from a friendly match of 1973 in Qatar. The match was held just one and a half years after the establishment of the independent State of Qatar;
• T-shirt of the Brazilian football player Cafu from the World Cup2002, wh ere he was the captain of the team, and the Brazilians became champions for the 5th time;
• T-shirts of Garrincha, Romario, Cautinho, Diego Maradona, Zinedine Zidane, Lionel Messi;
• World Cup mascots of different years.
Using the interactive panel, you can share your impressions of the exhibition and send your wishes to the organizers of the World Cup 2022, as well as vote for the stadium you like most.
