The Flower Festival in GUM is a favorite holiday that has long been an integral part of the Moscow summer. People wait for it, prepare for it, and come to Red Square especially for it. Bright shades, delicate petals, and a spicy floral aroma - everything here is created to inspire and please the eye.
On July 1, the Main Department Store once again turned into a blooming fairy tale: colorful flowerbeds grew along the historic façade, on the lines and around the legendary fountain. Almost a quarter of a million plants – 250,200 flowers grown especially for this event – blossomed in the very center of Moscow. This year, GUM is decorated with real botanical stars: marigolds, ageratum, begonia, coleus of all shades, New Guinea impatiens, lush pelargoniums, delicate lobelia, delphinium, salvia, veronica and ornamental grasses, as if they came straight from an English garden.
GUM's glass vaults make a walk along the blooming lines a pleasure regardless of the weather's vagaries - even a summer thunderstorm is not scary here. That's why the Flower Festival is also an ideal place for photo shoots: be it romantic shots, family photos or attractive stories for social networks.
On the opening day of the Flower Festival, friends of GUM and BoscoFamily – famous actors, TV presenters, musicians and athletes – acted as gardeners: Yulia and Artem Akimov, Vlad Lisovets, Irina Bezrukova, Marina Zudina, Polina Askeri, Svetlana Kuznetsova, Alena Berdova, Elena Zakharova, Anastasia Poletaeva, Milana Pich, Konstantin Anisimov, Anna Peskova, Irina Chaikovskaya, Madonna Moore, Yanina Studilina, Alexander Oleshko, Svetlana Khorkina.
