On July 11th, the official opening of the Qatar @ RoadTo2022 Exhibition took place in GUM. The event was about a press conference featuring bloggers and the two-time world champion in football, the former captain of the Brazilian national team Cafu.
Also the event featured Khalid Al-Naama, the representative of the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy of the World Cup-2022, which is engaged in creating infrastructure for the World Cup in 2022 in Qatar. The Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy of the World Cup 2022 in Qatar, as well as Qatar Majilis & Qatar Elements Museum in the Gorky Park are the organizers of the set-out.
The exhibition offers the part of one of the largest collections of tickets for World Cup matches. It is owned by the Qatar telecommunications engineer and football fan Mohammed Abdelatif.
In addition to rare tickets, the brightest exhibits of the display are:
• football boots and balls of the first world cups;
• unique shots of the Second World War time. Although the world cups were not held, people played football even in camps for prisoners or prior to decisive battles;
• Pele boots fr om the World Cup 1970 in Mexico;
• Pele T-shirt from a friendly match of 1973 in Qatar. The match was held just one and a half years after the establishment of the independent State of Qatar;
• T-shirt of the Brazilian football player Cafu from the World Cup 2002, wh ere he was the captain of the team, the Brazilians became champions for the 5th time then;
• T-shirts of Garrincha, Romario, Cautinho, Diego Maradona, Zinedine Zidane, Lionel Messi;
• World Cup mascots of different years.
