GUM Cinema will host a screening of Hamlet | Collage with Evgeny Mironov as part of the Golden Mask at the Cinema project.
The play tells us of a man who has to battle one-on-one with his own mind. Evgeny Mironov takes on all the roles of Shakespeare’s great tragedy. The production utilizes a number of new video technologies. The central element is a specially programmed cube.
Hamlet | Collage is the first play directed by Robert Lepage in Moscow. It is a part of a large-scale cultural exchange program between Russia and Canada. Lepage is well-known for such projects as The Far Side of the Moon, The Andersen Project, Lipsynch, the Kà show for Cirque du Soleil, etc. Lepage agreed to take part in the project after meeting Mironov and visiting the reconstructed Theater of Nations.
