For the very first time at GUM, the Russian Civilization International Photo Contest organized by the Federal Agency for Nationalities Affairs (FANA) is presenting a photo exhibition showcasing about 200 photographs. Their authors are photographers from all over the world. The exhibition’s opening coincides with the National Unity Day of Russia; it will run until November 10.
"In October, in partnership with the country's main department store, the best works of the Russian Civilization International Photo Contest will be presented in the heart of Russia. We decided to show all the very best and most interesting works that were produced in the last three years for the photo contest, about 200 works in total. We are grateful to our partners for the opportunity to display our works at such a legendary venue," — said Igor Barinov, head of the Russian Federal Agency for Nationalities Affairs (FANA), chairman of the photo contest jury.
The International Photo Competition was held in July-September 2019. There were five categories: Unique Nature, Faces and Generations, Big Country Traditions, Architecture and Sculpture, Multinational Moscow. This year, about 5000 photographers from 32 countries took part in the event, presenting 19500 images at the Russian Civilization contest.
The jury included the special representative of the Russian President for International Cultural Affairs, art expert and TV presenter Mikhail Shvydkoy, actors Irina Bezrukova and Yulia Mikhalkova, photographers Maxim Marmur, Anton Lange, Sergei Chernykh, and Alexey Zotov, popular Instagram blogger Kristina Makeeva, and urban expert Yulia Zubarik.
