On December, 2019, CHANEL unveils its new boutique at GUM on Moscow’s Red Square, in the very heart of the city.
The long-awaited two-story boutique, located in the capital’s largest department store, spans 630-square- metres to include all CHANEL’s creations from Ready-to-Wear, handbags, shoes, costume jewelry and eyewear along with a selection of Watches and Fine Jewelry.
For his latest project, New-York based architect and long-time collaborator Peter Marino has once again captured the allure and timeless modernity of CHANEL all while harnessing the codes of the House. Decorated in CHANEL’s emblematic colour palette of black, white and gold, the boutique is embellished with specially-commissioned art pieces adorning the walls: a collage of camelia flowers by artist Peter Dayton, a black and white “Bricks” print by Shelter Serra, lithographs by Agnes Martin and a gold and white painting by Thomas Fougeirol, continuing the House’s continuous relationship and support of the arts. To the far left of the ground floor, a colossal sculpture by French artist Jean-Michel Othoniel evokes a strand of beads, a nod to pearl necklaces so dear to Mademoiselle Chanel. This elegant new boutique, designed to embody a modern sensibility whilst simultaneously reflecting the rich history of CHANEL, brings clients an extended and unforgettable shopping experience in Moscow.
