The village of Zhostovo, Moscow region is famous for marvelous flowers that have been painted on trays in juicy, broad stroke style since 1825. Zhostovo artists never work with samples. They are guided by imagination and also by those unwritten canons that were perceived and polished by generations. Classic Zhostovo art style features several flower arrangements in which large and small flowers, leaves, buds & stems are harmoniously combined. Each Zhostovo tray is painted by hand and has author's signature. Each one is a unique work of folk art regardless of the size and mold manufacturing method (hand-forging, pressing or pressure casting). Today, Zhostovo painting is applied not only on metal, but also on papier-mâché, ceramics, glass, and even leather. You are welcome to discover the mysterious and exciting world of traditional Zhostovo bouquet and enjoy the beauty and variety of colors.
