On October 2, GUM Youngtimer Rally closed the season by uniting 120 luxurious cars on Red Square, each vehicle – a vision of the freedom and changes of the 1990s.
Participants traversed the picturesque route and visited landmarks to solve the quest tasks. Alena Sviridova, Aleksandr Tsypkin, Nadya Sysoyeva, Eldar Dzharakhov, Samira Mustafayeva, Avdotja Alexandrova, Grigory Berezkin, Ira Smelaya, Yasmina Muratovich, Yana Kudryavtseva, Slava Glushkov, and many other celebrities joined the rally. Mikhail Kusnirovich and Ekaterina Moiseeva welcomed car sports enthusiasts. The organizers – Ilya Kusnirovich, Pavel Nedostoev, and Georgy Balabadjan – waited for the competitors at the start line.
This year the traditional GUM Rally switched format and, together with Veterok Autoclub, Departament, and Esthetic Joys, dedicated the event to the 1990s. All cars participating in the event were manufactured no later than the late 1990s. Bosco di Ciliegi Group also hails from the 1990s. Youngtimer teams included rally partners: Avto.ru on Cadillac Fleetwood and Jaguar XJ V12, the Warner Music team included Tatarka, Amchi, and Kurt92; Afisha, Silver Rain Radio, Psycho Daily Telegram Channel, and “Nothing New” project were all represented by cars. Bosco participated together with Bosco Team in the event. The team wore tennis uniforms in the style of the 1990s stars: Pete Sampras and Andre Agassi. All the team had a pitstop at McAvto: in 1996, the first McDonald’s Drive-Thru in Russian opened at Leningrad Avenue.
Avivir ensured the safety of all guests and participants as the event’s medical partner. During the whole day, everybody could be tested for COVID-19 completely free of charge in just 5 minutes. Avivir was represented by two cars: Porsche Boxster and Porsche 944.
8 youngtimer cars were showcased on Line 1 at GUM (Saab 9-3 Convertible, Lancia Delta Integrale Evoluzione, Porsche 964 Turbo, Bentley Continental R, Mercedes W126 Amg 6.0, Aixam Mega Track, Lamborghini Lm002, BMW 850 Koenig Specials). The Section concept store held a contest with a SAAB 9-3 as the main prize. Porsche 993 Turbo, Mercedes e500 Limited, RR Corniche, Ferrari 550 Maranello, Alpina b10 Biturbo, Mercedes W140 Brabus 7.3s, TVR Chimera, Mercedes 220 Seb, Daimler Double Six, BMW M3 e36 3.2 are just some of the most memorable cars at this year’s rally.
The award ceremony was held in the evening at the GUM Fountain. The event concluded with a concert by MS Senechka, renowned for his juxtaposition of 90s and contemporary aesthetics.
The two teams with the highest scores were awarded Breitling watches, certified by COSC. Auto.ru, represented by development director Alexander Zverev, was awarded the prize for the fastest car. Some of the other nominations included the most original youngtimer, the car with the most difficult operating conditions in Russia, the car most in line with 1990s aesthetics, the youngtimer most often seen in movies, the most stylish team, the greatest contribution to automobile culture.
