Once Upon a Time There Was a Singing Blackbird: Screening at the GUM Cinema
GUM Cinema and the Movie Mania Project present a screening and group discussion of the film Once Upon a Time There Was a Singing Blackbird dedicated to the 85th anniversary of Otar Iosseliani and the upcoming jubilee of the movie’s release. The event will take place on February 18 at 8:00 PM.
Otar Iosseliani’s films have a similar effect to Julio Cortázar’s novels, Bob Dylan’s songs, or René Magritte’s paintings. They reflect the feelings of a lonely person in postindustrial times and capture the angst of the human spirit in detail.
“Gia goes through his short, quickly passing life in an almost constant hurry. Blank paper awaits him at home, he wants to write music, but there are so many things to do first: a meeting with friends, a date, his mother’s birthday, a concert (just to take part in the final coda of a symphony). Always on the run, always late, he is constantly running towards something…”
Movie Mania Representative Georgy Nersesov will introduce the movie night at GUM Cinema with a lecture on the work of Iosseliani. A discussion on the film will follow the screening. Project Creator and Curator – Movie Mania Creative Director Diana Nersesova.
Welcome drink – 19:30. Screening begins at 20:00. Ticket price: 1000 RUB.

See you at the GUM Cinema!
