It is common knowledge that producing films with a multitude of stars is especially difficult. Director Anthony Asquith had to go through a lot during the shooting of the The V.I.P.s. Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton were experiencing a particularly fiery period in their marriage. The film also features, among others, Elsa Martinelli, Maggie Smith, and Margaret Rutherford, who won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role. The story focuses on the variously intertwined lives of passengers who are stuck at London Heathrow Airport due to fog. Screenwriter Terence Rattigan based his work on the real-life events in the lives of Vivien Leigh and Laurence Olivier.
The lecture is presented by Sergey Tomash – publisher of Aeroflot magazines. Sergey is well-versed in cinema, and he sees his role as a lecturer to present films in such a way that you immediately want to watch them.
