This year, for the first time, GUM becomes a national sponsor of the World Archery Cup Final, which will be held on September 6-7 at the Prestige Alley of the Luzhniki Olympic Complex. The Moscow Cup Final will be the first archery event of such a global scale since the 1980 Olympics. Moscow will join the list of host cities for this year's World Cup – Medellin, Shanghai, Antalya, and Berlin.
The World Archery governs the competition. The World Cup Series dates back to 2006 and has been held for 14 seasons. Last year's World Cup Final took place in Samsun, Turkey.
The tournament in Moscow will be attended by the strongest archers of the world, including Russian athletes, champions of international competitions. Classic and compound bow individual and team competitions among men and women will take place. Eight athletes are to compete in each category. Among mixed teams, there will be only finals between the best foreign teams in the world ranking and Russian teams.
This year, Russia will be represented in individual competitions by Artem Makhnenko, Perova Ksenia, Sayana Li, Anton Bulayev, and Natalia Avdeeva. Participants of the team competitions are Erdem Irdinyev and Elena Osipova (classic bow), Pavel Krylov and Elizaveta Knyazeva (compound bow).
On September 1, GUM will launch an exhibition dedicated to the history of archery. Visitors will be able to see bows, medals and badges of different time periods, vintage posters, and photographs. The exhibition will run until September 20.
On September 4 at 07:00 pm, a bow shooting demonstration will take place in the center of the GUM, by the fountain. Archers will shoot from the bridges of the second floor at apples and cherries. A mini-shooting gallery will be open for everyone. At 08:00 pm, GUM's showroom is to host the draw of the World Cup's participants and a press briefing.
The tournament opening will take place on September 6, at noon, at the Prestige Alley of the Luzhniki Olympic Complex. On 6 and 7 September, men and women will take part in individual, team, and mixed classic and compound bow competitions.
On September 7, at 07:00 pm, Luzhniki will host the closing ceremony and award ceremony. Bosco, a partner of the Russian Federation of archery, will offer valuable prizes to the winners of a special competitions among audience members for hitting the bull’s eye with a single arrow. Hyundai Solaris, a Longines watch and Bosco sports apparel constitute the prizes for the finest amateur archers!
