Hitchcock had complete control in choosing the literary material for his first film in Hollywood. Hitchcock selected the famous novel by Daphne Du Maurier. He was a huge fan of Du Maurier’s talent and repeatedly adapted her works. Rebecca won the Oscar in 1940 as the best film of the year.
