GUM Cinema Presents Mysteries of The Nutcracker Ballet. Lecture by Ballet Expert Ekaterina Belova.
GUM Cinema will host the Mysteries of the Nutcracker Baller lecture by ballet expert Ekaterina Belova on December 11, at 20:00.
The history of the creation of the famous New Year ballet is full of enigmas and mysteries. It seems almost unbelievable that the brilliant music by Pyotr Tchaikovsky and fascinating choreography by Lev Ivanov were met contradictory and sometimes not flattering reviews at the 1892 premiere in St. Petersburg.
Ekaterina Belova's lecture will be dedicated to the first production of the ballet based on Hoffmann's fairy tale and later versions of The Nutcracker staged in Leningrad and Moscow. Ekaterina Belova is a doctor of art history, professor of choreography and ballet studies at the Moscow State Academy of Choreography.
