On January 25, to celebrate the Day of Russian Students, Moscow held the traditional Night of Student Sports. GUM Ice Rink was the central location for most of the events, hosting students from Moscow and other regions of Russia.
Before the start of the celebrations, Russian Minister of Sport Oleg Matytsin, Russian Minister of Science and Higher Education Valery Falkov, President of Russian Student Sports Union Sergey Seyranov signed an agreement for the development of student sports.
GUM Ice Rink hosted an exhibition hockey competition with teams from SHL Stars and Red Stars teams participating. Russian Minister of Sport Oleg Matytsin, Russian Minister of Science and Higher Education Valery Falkov, first vice-president of the Ice Hockey Federation of Russia Roman Rotenberg, heads of Russian universities and colleges, famous hockey players, and many others were at the competition. President of the Ice Hockey Federation of Russia Vladislav Tretyak presented the players with the first hockey puck of the match.
