The brand was established at the Mediterranean resort of Saint-Tropez in 1970. Sports journalist Fred Priskel, who has been having rest at the terrace of a popular café, came up with the idea of swimming shorts’ creation. He cut out the prototype shorts from a motley tablecloth, covering his table. Soon, Priskel started to try other fabrics and chose quick-drying sailing cotton eventually. This is how the first Vilebrequin swimming shorts appeared.
The French brand, traditionally known for signature swimming short, turned beach fashion into a life style.
